Before you install
- When Android refuses the install, it is the unknown-sources guard doing it. Grant this app permission in Settings, then confirm the install when the prompt comes back.
- An "incompatible version" message usually means the build was compiled for the older ARMv7 processors that recent phones no longer accept. Look for the ARM64 (ARMv8) build of the same version instead.
Download FAQs
What does ShadeType Privacy Screen do?
ShadeType Privacy Screen places a veil over the screen outside your keyboard while you type. You can tap the keyboard-area control to hide the display, then hold the veil briefly to view your text.
What does the Premium Unlocked MOD change?
This build is labeled Premium Unlocked. The label identifies the MOD for this version of ShadeType Privacy Screen.
Can ShadeType Privacy Screen work with Gboard or SwiftKey?
Yes. ShadeType Privacy Screen is not a keyboard replacement, so you keep Gboard, SwiftKey, or another keyboard you already use. Their autocorrect, swipe typing, and emoji features remain available.
Does ShadeType Privacy Screen stop screenshots or cameras from seeing the screen?
No. ShadeType Privacy Screen is a software overlay and does not alter the display's hardware viewing angles. It does not block screenshots, screen recording, or a camera pointed at the phone.
What Android version is needed for ShadeType Privacy Screen?
ShadeType Privacy Screen requires Android 8.0 or later to install. Android may show a prompt when installing from this source, and allowing that installation is your choice.
Nothing happens when I tap download
Refresh the page and start again — each link is signed for one visit and stops working after that. If it keeps failing, the file is probably being swapped for a newer build; give it a few minutes.
Android says "App not installed"
Usually there is already a copy of the same app on the phone, signed by someone else. Remove that copy first, then install this file — and back up anything you care about inside the app beforehand, because uninstalling wipes it.
